Concept: แยก (Separation)
Visual effect: Pulling
Description:
By meaning, seperation is to create an interval between two objects. The two units seemed as if they were joined together (living and working.) My idea is to separate the two in order to increase the effieciency in either places by pulling - just like cheese!

The illustration of different layers which create the sense of seperation.

Site Analysis

The site is interesting and should be somewhat inspiring. My site analysis would lead to concepts of housing design.

KEY WORDS from Site analysis:

- White: the pale color of the buildings

- Flat and hard - feeling and horizontality of the existings

- Surrounded - the site is surrounded by blocks of buildings

- Block and Depth - the walls are very close to the street area and thus create dynamic layers

The CIRCULATION DIAGRAM: show how there is only one way in and out and how the site was left ifnored

the SUN - WIND DIAGRAM: show the orientation to sun (house facing West) and the preferred wind from the South.

the NATURAL DIAGRAM: illustrated how the plantations are seen only to the Southern areas of the site






This is then used in Conceptual Model of the ignored site.


The keywords develop into the ideas of depth and "push and pull" of the layers.

Sun and Wind: The site is facing WEST. The area would be hot during the evening as the sun sets. The Ventilation is likely to come from the SOUTH but it's blocked by the surroundings.
Approaches and Access: The soi is dead-end, there's only one way in and out; no footpath.

Massing: surrounded by blocks of buildings. Walls are close to streets.
Color scheme: Pale - almost white
Visual: Opposite - a small subsoi which provide good "depth view"
Audio: Low Disturbance from Dogs and Cars.

Assignment

After several weeks of drawing and analyzing, the instructors are confident that the students are prepared to tackle the next assignment.

For this assignment, the students are asked to design a house for a very intriguing couple. She – a radical filmmaker graduated from Goldsmith College, London and he- a provocative Japanese artist who used to be a Sushi chef in Sweden have decided to live together here in Bangkok. Their sanctuary has to fulfill the ever more common integration of live and work, not too dissimilar for that of a common shop-house typology in Bangkok or a more exotic Venetian Palazzo in Italy.

Each student is encouraged to question the very meaning of dwelling, domesticity, and work. More and more people have chosen to work from home thanks to the ubiquity of gadgets and connectivity options. The dichotomy between private and public space of the past is being challenged by the increasingly blurred schedule and existence. Furthermore, many domestic spaces such as kitchen are being transformed into an open stage where anyone could perform. The included case studies should provide sufficient evidence to the claim.
